I have over 15 years of experience in nutrition counseling for those struggling with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and/or Substance Use Disorder (SUD), along with co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. I have a background in the older adult population, working in several long-term care facilities, as well as those living with diabetes. Working as a Registered Dietitian has opened my eyes to the profound impact of nutrition on every facet of our lives. We bond with loved ones over a delicious meal. If we skip a meal, we often feel anxious and fatigued. Various chronic health conditions are intertwined with what we eat, influencing the symptoms we experience. I love helping my clients connect the dots to identify eating habits that best meet their needs and help them feel at peace with their food and body.
why im a dietitian
My passion for nutrition started at a young age, when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). My positive experiences as a young child being counseled by Registered Dietitians on managing my diabetes left a huge impact on my life. This led me to decide to become a Registered Dietitian myself. Compassion and empathy are essential in relating with patients, as I know what it is like to be bombarded with well-meaning, albeit misinformed, comments about my body and food choices. Living with a chronic illness can be very isolating, and I strive to let my patients know they are not alone. My personal experiences have fueled my passion to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and I strive to apply the principles daily as I help my patients heal their relationship with food and their bodies.
