I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my two kitties Jasper and Sprout. They keep my days interesting and usually love involving themselves in any task I do. Jasper’s favorite is cleaning the bathroom! Outside of being a dietitian, I have a love for fitness. I currently teach mat pilates and spin at my local gym. This helps me blend my love for music and movement! Growing up in Colorado, I do have a love for the outdoors, like bike rides and winter sports, but I also find joy in any kind of sport - preferably hockey to watch or volleyball to play! In terms of creativity, I’m currently learning how to embroider and I love to read. Fantasy and romantic novels are a household favorite genre. I love a good adventure, but most importantly, I love to laugh. No matter what, I love to find joy in each area of my life and spread a little bit of it wherever I go.
why im a dietitian
In 2015, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease after a long diagnostic process and a 2.5-month hospital stay. I was constantly surrounded by nurses, doctors, and dietitians who frankly saved my life. After this I knew I wanted to work in medicine. While I knew it was going to be health-focused, one nutrition class in my undergraduate degree sealed the deal that I would be a dietitian.
The most important thing I learned from my education was that everyday people don’t have the same knowledge we do as dietitians. And unfortunately, that’s a problem. I work as a dietitian to give confidence and knowledge back to my clients so they feel in control of their lives and their health. I was given that opportunity after my Crohn’s diagnosis and the most important thing I could share with others is that same feeling.
I bring a fun energy (with lots of laughter) to my clients to help shift into the lifestyle that is meant for them and their health. This is a safe space to explore what works with identity-based change. When you know who you are and what you need, the pieces fall into place a little easier and we can build you a healthy life together.
FAVORITE FOOD
Pho, preferably beef (but I’ll eat anything). I love a warm bowl on a cold day that helps me feel warm and comforted
in my free time you'll find me
Playing video games or watching NHL hockey (Go Avs!). But in all honesty, I’m probably planning a fitness class or looking for new music.
education
I studied in Fort Collins for my Bachelor’s where I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science and concentration in Sports Medicine. This led to my love for fitness and one nutrition class junior year led me to pursue dietetics. I then completed a hybrid Master’s degree with Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri where I also completed my internship. I received a Master’s with High Distinction in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics. The combination of my degrees gives me a holistic view on health where I am able to apply movement and food together to find the best mix for each person I meet.
