This sweet and salty dressing will turn what your kids might call a boring vegetable into one they’ll ask for. The different textures, the creaminess of the dressing, the crunch of the almonds and the crispy sauteed brussels sprouts make for a savoring side dish.

You can buy pre-cut brussels sprouts at any major grocery store. This will save you so much work when comes the time to prepare dinner. Buying already slivered almonds is also an option. Then, this recipe becomes as easy as tossing everything in a pan and cooking until the brussels sprouts reach your desired texture.

Brussels sprouts- Brussels sprouts are part of the cruciferous vegetables family. They contain high amounts of vitamin C and K. Brussels sprouts also contain some folate, which is important for neural tube development.

Olive oil- Olive oil is particularly high in monounsaturated fats, and contains omega-6 and omega-3, all healthy fats that contribute to a healthy heart.

Dijon mustard- Less processed than bright yellow mustard.

Almonds- Almonds, like all nuts, are high in healthy fats, fibre and protein. These are all nutrients that work together to keep you fuller for longer. Almonds are also high in vitamin E, manganese and magnesium. Vitamin E can help with regulating blood pressure and is a powerful antioxidant.

Dried cranberries- When buying dried fruits, look for the non added sugar type. Dried cranberries contain some vitamins and minerals, like vitamin C, E, K and manganese.

How to Make Maple Balsamic Dijon Brussels Sprouts

1. Add oil to a large sauté pan on medium heat.
2. Once warm, add brussels sprouts and stir until browned and crispy (about 10 minutes).
3. While the brussels sprouts are roasting, make your sauce. Mix the mustard, maple syrup, balsamic, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
4. Add the sauce into the pan and mix well.
5. Add almonds and cranberries. Cook for 5 more minutes, and serve warm.

While this dish is best served right away while warm, it will also store well in the refrigerator for a few days. Hello, meal prep idea?! Store in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat when ready to eat.
