Transform Your Heart Health with Expert Nutrition

How Can a Cardiovascular Dietitian Help with Heart Health?

Effective management and prevention of cardiovascular diseases begins with understanding and optimizing your nutrition. Our cardiovascular dietitians take a comprehensive approach to your health, examining not just your nutrition, but your entire lifestyle.

We start by reviewing your medical history, current diagnoses, medications, supplements, and daily routines. From there, we craft a customized eating plan that’s practical, and suits your taste preferences and lifestyle.

Forget one-size-fits-all meal plans that feel impossible to stick to. We’re here to help you make sustainable, heart-healthy changes while savoring the foods you love. Whether you’ve been advised to lower your cholesterol, follow a low-sodium diet to manage high blood pressure, or you have a family history of heart disease, our expert team is equipped to provide the guidance you need to take control of your heart health.

MAGGIE F HAS LEARNED ABOUT HERSELF AND HER EMOTIONAL NEEDS

“Their approach to nutrition is empowering, validating, and healing.”

I have worked with both Valerie and Devon and have absolutely loved my experience! With them I am learning so much about myself and my body/emotional needs. I have worked with other nutritionists and dietitians in the past with no success, and I think it’s the No Diet approach of working from your inner motivations and psychology outward that creates a much bigger impact. I cannot recommend them enough!

Which Foods Are Best for Heart Health?

  • Oily Fish: Salmon, tuna, and mackerel are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce inflammation and lower triglycerides.
  • Fruits and Vegetables: Provide fiber and essential vitamins and minerals that support heart health.
  • Leafy Greens: Kale, spinach and chard are great sources of vitamin K, folic acid, calcium and antioxidants, all of which can help improve heart health.
  • Berries: Strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries all contain polyphenols (powerful antioxidants which can fight inflammation). They also have fiber and other nutrients that may lower LDL (the “bad” cholesterol).
  • Legumes: Known for their high fiber content, beans also have protein and are low in saturated fat. They’re a great alternative for a meatless meal!
  • Nuts and Seeds: These healthy fats are satiating, give us fiber and other nutrients such as antioxidants and omega 3s.
  • Whole Grains: Brown rice, whole wheat pasta, quinoa and oats are all good examples of whole grains which will give us more fiber, B vitamins among other nutrients. Making at least half the grains we eat whole grains is a good target.
